Finney Senior Awarded FIRST Scholarship
Senior Julia Smith has been awarded a $36,000 Clarkson Merit Scholarship and a $24,000 FIRST scholarship (two of 25 merit scholarships by Clarkson University).

The Clarkson Merit Scholarship is based on exceptional academic success, effort, and promise. Consideration is automatic and based on the admission application.

The FIRST Scholarships are given to selected high school seniors that have been a member of a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) or FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team. Scholarship students must also have a minimum overall GPA of 85 or better, provide a recommendation from an adult leader of their FIRST Team, and submit an essay on your FIRST Robotics experience. Julia has been a member of Finney's FRC Team #1405 for 4 years and was co-captain in 2009. She will attend Clarkson University to study Mechanical Engineering.
Previously, Finney 2010 graduate and 5-year Team 1405 member Zach Brown (co-captain 2010) was also awarded a FIRST Scholarship from Clarkson. The scholarships will renew each year, awarding as much as $24,000 to each student.
