Winter Sports Recap for the 2016-2017 Season

Finney 2017 Winter Sports proved to be another record-breaking and excitement-filled season for our school. From team accomplishments to individual successes, the basketball season didn't disappoint.

The Boys Varsity Basketball team won their seventh Sectional Title and advanced to their sixth appearance at the State Tournament where they lost in quarter finals against Franklinville. It was truly a banner year for the Boys Varsity team with special recognition for several players. Sophomore, Keegan Ocurr, was named to the Private Parochial 1st Team and received the MVP Award.  Junior, Max Harris, was named to the Private Parochial 2nd Team, received the Offensive Player of the Year Award and reached his 1,000th career point. Senior, Cameron Odum, received the Defensive Player of the Year Award and junior, Zeke Humphrey received Most Improved Player. Junior, Xavier Smith, was given Honorable Mention by the Private Parochial League. The team finished their season with a 20-6 record.

The Girls Varsity Basketball team recognized several of their players. Jordan Smith was named to the Private Parochial All-Star Team. Jordan Williams received the Offensive Player of the Year Award. Beth Smith Received the Defensive Player of the Year Award and Most Improved Player went to Alisabeth Crandell. The Lady Falcons finished their season with a 5-16 record.

Boys Modified Basketball had two teams for the first time in Finney History:
Green Team – 1-11
White Team - 3-8

Girls Modified Basketball – 9-2
