 High School History Teacher Grades 9 &10 for 2021-2022 School Year

 

JOB SUMMARY 

The History teacher at The Charles Finney School is responsible for creating a Christ-centered, educational atmosphere in the classroom, and for guiding student growth in provided History curriculum- Global 1 (9th grade) and Global 2 (10th grade).  

 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program to high school students in 9th and 10th grade History classes. It is our desire that this individual guide and encourage students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.  The teacher will embed a Christian World view into the curriculum. Work is performed under the supervision of the principal.

 

·         Plan, prepare and deliver lessons and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.

·         Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.

·         Use relevant technology to support instruction.

·         Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.

·         Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.

·         Provide appropriate feedback on work.

·         Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.

·         Participate in department, school, and parent meetings.

·         Communicate necessary information in a timely fashion to students and parents regarding student progress and student needs.

·         Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.

·         Prepare classroom for class activities.

·         Provide a variety of learning materials and resources.

·         Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development.

·         Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments according to established standards of the school.

 

 REQUIREMENTS

 

·         Personal faith in Jesus Christ with a passion for Christian education is a must

·         Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in a field of study relevant to  this position

·         Valid teaching certificate/license (preferred not required)

·         Willingness to obtain ACSI Certification (paid for by the school)

·         Clean background check

ELEMENTARY / MIDDLE SCHOOL POSITIONS NEEDED FOR 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR

The Charles Finney School is experiencing tremendous growth. The school is adding additional classrooms to accommodate the high enrollment. There will be at least three elementary positions available next year and one sixth grade. We are also seeking a part-time physical  education teacher.

  •     Uses a repertoire of assessment strategies to determine what students already know and what they will learn.
  •    Understand subjects taught and show how this knowledge is created, organized.
  •     Prepare daily and/or weekly plans and materials based on school's curriculum map.
  •     Demonstrates experience in effectively solving challenging problems through a positive collaboration approach.
  •      A Team player-able to work with others; contributing ideas and receiving wisdom from others
  •    High fluency level in written and oral communication.
  •    Ability to select a variety of activities, media and technology to respond to the diversity of learning styles and needs of the students in the class.
  •  Use proven research strategies in Elementary Education.
  •  Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities.

 

Qualifications

  • ·         Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university
  • ·         Current professional certification in elementary education is preferred
  • ·         Prior teaching experience is a plus, but not mandatory

HIGH SCHOOL BIBLE TEACHER (9th & 10th GRADES) 2021-2022 

     The Charles Finney School is a K-12 school that partners with families to provide a quality, faith-based education. Finney desires to develop students who are passionate about God using Biblical truth to prepare our students to make a great impact as servant leaders.

     

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and educate students in a classroom setting
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans
  • Adhere to our established teaching curriculum 
  • Maintain positive relationships with students and parents
  • Document and share student grades and evaluations
  • Maintain the health and safety of all students
  • Cultivate and maintain the spiritual climate of the students through daily classes, weekly chapels, and student life activities.
  • Work closely with the 11th / 12th grade Bible teacher with scheduling weekly chapels, training class chaplains, and speaking at occasional chapels
  • Other responsibilities may include but are not limited to homeroom and study halls

 

Requirements


  • Candidate must have a passion for Christian education and know the Lord Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior
  • Previous experience in teaching, pastoring youth  or other educational fields desired, but not required
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Ability to build rapport with students
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Faithfully attending church
  • The candidate must have, or be willing to working towards a current ACSI teaching certificate

 SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS FOR ALL SCHOOL LEVELS NEEDED

 

The Charles Finney School is seeking substitute teachers at all grade and subject levels. Finney is a PreK-12 faith-based school. Substitute pay is $90.00 a day.  Applicants must enjoy working with children. A faith in Christ is also required.
