JOB SUMMARY 

The English teacher at The Charles Finney School is responsible for creating a Christ-centered, educational atmosphere in the classroom, and for guiding student growth provided English curriculum. 

 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program primarily to high school students in 9th and 10th grade English classes. It is our desire that this individual guide and encourage students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.  The teacher will embed a Christian World view into the curriculum. Work is performed under the supervision of the principal.

 

·         Plan, prepare and deliver lessons and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.

·         Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.

·         Use relevant technology to support instruction.

·         Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.

·         Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.

·         Provide appropriate feedback on work.

·         Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.

·         Participate in department, school, and parent meetings.

·         Communicate necessary information in a timely fashion to students and parents regarding student progress and student needs.

·         Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.

·         Prepare classroom for class activities.

·         Provide a variety of learning materials and resources.

·         Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development.

·         Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments according to established standards of the school.

 

 REQUIREMENTS

 

·         Personal faith in Jesus Christ with a passion for Christian education is a must

·         Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in a field of study relevant to this position

·         Valid teaching certificate/license (preferred not required)

·         Willingness to obtain ACSI Certification (paid for by the school)

·         Clean background check

HIGH SCHOOL BIBLE TEACHER FOR 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR


The Charles Finney School is located in Penfield, NY a suburb of Rochester, NY. We are seeking to hire a High School Bible Teacher for 11th and 12th grades starting in August 31, 2020 for the 2020-2021 school year. This is a full-time position in which you will inspire, prepare, and equip students at the upper high school levels. 

     The Charles Finney School is a K-12 school that partners with families to provide a quality, faith-based education. Finney desires to develop students who are passionate about God using Biblical truth to prepare our students to make a great impact as servant leaders.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and educate students in a classroom setting
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans
  • Adhere to our established teaching curriculum 
  • Maintain positive relationships with students and parents
  • Document and share student grades and evaluations
  • Maintain the health and safety of all students
  • Cultivate and maintain the spiritual climate of the students through daily classes, weekly chapels, and student life activities.
  • Work closely with the 9th / 10th grade Bible teacher with scheduling weekly chapels, training class chaplains, and speaking at occasional chapels
  • Other responsibilities may include but are not limited to homeroom and study halls

 

Requirements

  • Candidate must have a passion for Christian education and know the Lord Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior
  • Previous experience in teaching, pastoring youth  or other educational fields desired, but not required
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Ability to build rapport with students
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Faithfully attending church
  • The candidate must have, or be willing to working towards a current ACSI teaching certificate

 SPANISH TEACHER

JOB SUMMARY 

The Spanish Teacher at The Charles Finney School is responsible for creating a Christ-centered, educational atmosphere in the classroom, and for guiding student growth in Spanish language. 

 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program primarily to high school  students in 9th and 10th grades. As the school looks for ways to expand the Spanish program into the middle school grades there may be additional responsibilities. It is our desire that this individual guide and encourage students to develop and fulfill their academic potential in learning Spanish.  The teacher will embed ethnic, cultural, global awareness, and a Christian World view into the curriculum. Work is performed under the supervision of the principal.

 

·         Plan, prepare and deliver lessons and instructional materials that facilitate active learning of Spanish at each appropriate grade level.

·         Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.

·         Use relevant technology to support instruction.

·         Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.

·         Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.

Middle School Science Teacher Needed for the 2020-2021 School Year

The Charles Finney School is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the role of middle school science teacher. Along with teaching a combination of hands-on (FOSS) and textbook approach to middle school science this teacher will teach a designated middle school bible class. Other responsibilities may include homeroom and study hall.

  • Uses a variety of instructional strategies (e.g. direct instruction, cooperative learning, individualized instruction, and inquiry) to engage students.
  • Prepare daily and/or weekly plans and materials based on school's curriculum map.
  • Demonstrates experience in effectively solving challenging problems through a positive collaboration approach.
  • A team player; able to work with others; contributing ideas and receiving wisdom from others
  • High fluency level in written and oral communication.
  • Ability to select a variety of activities, media and technology to respond to the diversity of learning styles and needs of the students in the class.
  • Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities. 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • Current professional certification is preferred, but not mandatory
  • Prior teaching experience is a plus, but not mandatory
  • Willingness to continue with on-going professional development
